In addition to the production and distribution of facsimile editions, Bibliotheca Rara is dedicated to the sale of encyclopedias and reference works, both new and antiquarian.

Together with like-minded enthusiasts, unlocking the intellectual world of Late Antiquity and the Middle Ages as facsimiles has been our mission at Bibliotheca Rara since the publisher's founding in 1990. Book production in the Middle Ages was the work of skilled scribes and talented illuminators, supported by expert hands in purchasing and processing parchment as well as crafting bindings. Unique books were created by order of emperors, kings, dukes, and cardinals, initially in monastic scriptoria and later in secular illumination workshops.
